HSG News: HealthCare.com & MediResource Partner on tools

Latest Medical NewsMIAMI and TORONTO, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ --

HealthCare.com (http://www.healthcare.com/), the leading healthcare provider directory and online health destination, today announced that it has reached an agreement with MediResource (http://www.mediresource.com/), a leading creator and syndicator of interactive health content to healthcare companies, government websites, and online media sites, to jointly market and license their respective content libraries, directories, and tools as a bundled health offering to website publishers. Such a solution enables destination websites to create a fully-branded, out-of-the-box online health offering that combines medically-reviewed disease, condition and medication content, health and wellness tools, a healthcare provider directory and a health vertical search engine, all on an ad-supported basis.

Under the agreement HealthCare.com and MediResource will package their content and tools offering into an integrated, hosted health portal solution. HealthCare.com, a top online health destination, will contribute their fully- branded healthcare provider directory which is comprised of 1.7 million verified listings of health professionals, practices, facilities and services across 250+ health categories, along with its proprietary health vertical search engine. MediResource will contribute an offering which includes over 20,000 pages of consumer health content including a Disease and Medical Condition Library, Drug Library, Patient Support Groups Directory, Lab Tests and Procedures Database, Interactive Symptom Checker, Daily Health Tips, Health Articles, Disease and Condition Channels, Interactive Health Tools, Calculators and Risk Assessments. Furthermore, content and tools from the MediResource offering will be implemented as part of HealthCare.com consumer facing website.

The Health Portal Solution provided by both companies is expected to increase website profitability, traffic and usability. Health, one of the most valuable and fastest growing segments of the Internet with over 80% of Internet users in the U.S. alone searching for health content, augments the capacity for web portals to offer accurate, verified and medically-reviewed health content. The offering brings down the barriers for websites to create a branded, turn-key solution from which to push leading health information to their existing base of users and generate new ad inventory and revenues. Leveraging a highly scalable infrastructure enables MediResource and HealthCare.com to provide partner sites a comprehensive health solution without upfront or ongoing operational costs or license fees. "It is a milestone for us to be working with a long-term and leading player in the online healthcare space as MediResource," said Howard Yeh, VP of Corporate Development at HealthCare.com. "Our joint content and tools offering is a great solution for publishers looking to enhance their health content offering without the requisite upfront licensing and development costs. The solution targets both national health information at the disease/medication level and local healthcare at the provider level."

"We are extremely pleased to be working with HealthCare.com," said Pierre Paquette, COO of MediResource. "The partnership with HealthCare.com is a right fit, win-win opportunity for MediResource to expand our solution and to offer our content clients a more valuable proposition, while providing health seekers more complete user experience."
