 | Healthsite Overview: My Healthy Today | |

My Healthy Today is a distributor of free email newsletters tailored to your personal health interests. Registration is essential to access the site’s specific information, and registration requires some personal data, such as your birthday.
Once registered you can choose among about 30 newsletters on topics ranging from the specific (“Blood Pressure”) to the more general (“Women’s Health”). The newsletters contain recent articles published by HealthDay News, with the sources fully specified. Most articles seemed to be based on recent findings published in major medical journals.
The features, My Health Reminders and My Health Reminders for Loved Ones, provide a list of screening tests and inoculations based on your or your loved ones’ age and sex. On request the site will send you email reminders when these screens or shots are due again. Similarly, if you sign up for My Baby Expectations, you’ll receive a series of newsletters and emails that are appropriate for your stage of pregnancy.
My Health Links is a directory of websites grouped according to sex and stage of life (“Men’s Health,” “Other Caregiver Roles”). Clicking on one of these links takes you to a short list of specialized websites, mostly from not-for-profit organizations, with a brief description of each.
Under Health Information you’ll find a link to Drug Information (via Medline Plus, see our separate review), a Medical Dictionary (Merriam-Webster’s) and a Medical Encyclopedia (also from Medline Plus).
The Daily Health News section provides recent findings, health highlights and news of recent FDA drug approvals, all from HealthDay. At this writing the FYI news link had almost no content. Also, the website offers a Find a Physician link, but at this writing it lists only pediatricians associated with Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California.
Private Health News of Cincinnati, Ohio, owns this site. No information about this company is available on the website itself.
